Save-A-Lot was founded in 1977 by Bill Moran in Cahokia, Illinois. Only three years later, the retailer had added 52 stores and a distribution warehouse in Jackson, Tennessee. Bill Shaner became the CEO after founder Bill Moran’s retirement in 2006, but the current CEO is Ritchie Casteel, who replaced Shaner in 2013. The company has over 1,300 stores across the U.S. and is one of the fastest growing retailers in the country. They offer a “Special Buys” section where products are sold off the pallet and are temporarily reduced in price. The company headquarters is located in Earth City, Missouri.
